Understanding Our Design Fees

Our design fees are structured around the three main stages of the design process:

  1. Schematic Design: We begin by discussing your design aspirations and developing initial concepts that align with your vision.
  2. Design Development: Building upon the approved schematic design, we refine the details, materials, and systems to create a comprehensive design solution.
  3. Construction Documentation: We produce detailed drawings and specifications necessary for construction and obtaining approvals from relevant authorities.

Each stage requires your approval before proceeding to the next, ensuring you’re involved and informed throughout the process.


Factors Influencing Design Fees

Several factors can impact the overall design fees:

  • Project Complexity: Designing for bushfire-prone areas, steep sites, or heritage-listed properties may require additional considerations and expertise.
  • Renovations and Alterations: Projects involving existing structures often necessitate detailed modelling and integration with new designs.
  • Design Approaches: Incorporating specific design philosophies, such as solar passive or health-focused designs, can influence the scope and cost.
  • Material and Finish Selections: High-end finishes, custom fixtures, and unique materials may require additional design time and coordination.

Fee Proposal and Agreements

After understanding your Design Brief, we’ll provide a detailed Scope of Works along with a fee schedule. Once both parties agree and sign the design contract, we commence the design work.

It’s important to note that any significant changes or variations after the design has been approved may incur additional fees, depending on the extent of the modifications and the time required to implement them.


Meetings and Consultations

While we prefer conducting meetings online for efficiency and safety, we’re open to in-person consultations if necessary. Please be aware that travel fees may apply for face-to-face meetings, depending on the location and frequency.


Additional Services

Beyond the primary design stages, we offer additional services to support your project:

  • Builder Selection: Assisting you in choosing a suitable builder who aligns with your project’s requirements and budget.
  • Contract Administration: Overseeing the construction process to ensure it adheres to the design specifications and contractual agreements.
