Dual Occupancy Homes in Yatte Yattah: Wildmere

Wildmere: Dual Occupancy Homes Crafted for Yatte Yattah

At Francis Design, we’re delighted to present Wildmere, a dual occupancy home set in the peaceful surrounds of Yatte Yattah. These homes blend effortlessly with the scenic beauty of Lake Conjola, offering a versatile space for both everyday living and holiday escapes. We set out to design dual occupancy homes that harmonise with Yatte Yattah’s landscape. As a result, they provide two families with a practical and welcoming place to call home.

The approach to Wildmere is understated yet captivating. Sunken gently into the earth, the building provides shelter and protection, creating a mysterious allure. As you move closer, Lake Conjola’s tranquil waters come into view, framed between the two dwellings. Thus, the landscape’s quiet beauty reveals itself in a thoughtful way.

Wildmere’s layout captures views of Lake Conjola, with large windows that invite natural light into each dwelling. Furthermore, the design provides privacy and independence, making it suitable for extended families, shared investments, or holiday rentals. By following the hillside’s natural slope, these homes integrate with Yatte Yattah’s landscape. Consequently, they create a serene setting for relaxation or time with loved ones.

Following our client’s brief, each dwelling includes a private courtyard, a secluded space for a quiet morning coffee. Moreover, a central communal area connects the homes, offering an outdoor woodfire BBQ for gatherings and a pool with an infinity edge that echoes Lake Conjola’s calm expanse. These spaces balance personal retreat with shared moments, rooted in the needs of those who live here.

The materials reflect the area’s character and history. Free form stone walls anchor the design to the earth. Charred timber, crafted using the Shou-Sugi-Ban technique (Eco Timber Group), brings warmth and texture. Black rooflines and pebbles, reminiscent of ash from the land’s bushfire history, tie Wildmere to its roots, while the sunken design enhances its protected feel, quietly complementing Lake Conjola’s surroundings.

The name Wildmere reflects the harmony of nature’s wild beauty and the lake’s calm, making this dual occupancy home a special place to live or visit. At Francis Design, we focus on creating spaces that are practical and tied to their surroundings. Please visit our blog to learn more about duplex Design.
