Understanding our design fees.
Fees are structured around the three main stages of the design process, so you always know what you are approving and what comes next.
The three stages
- Schematic design — initial concepts developed around your vision.
- Design development — refinement of details, materials and systems.
- Construction documentation — detailed drawings and specifications for construction and approvals.
Each stage requires your approval before we proceed to the next.
What influences the fee
- Project complexity — bushfire-prone areas, steep sites and heritage-listed properties require additional expertise.
- Renovations and alterations — existing structures require detailed modelling and integration.
- Design approach — solar passive or health-focused design influences scope and cost.
- Materials and finishes — high-end finishes, custom fixtures and unique materials require additional design time.
Fee proposals and agreements
After reviewing your design brief, we provide a detailed scope of works with a fee schedule. Once that is agreed and signed, design work commences.
Significant changes or variations after a stage has been approved may incur additional fees, based on the extent of the modification and the time required to implement it.
Meetings and consultations
Online meetings are preferred for efficiency. In-person consultations are available, with a possible travel fee depending on location and frequency.

- Contract administration — oversight ensuring construction follows the design and specification.
